In 2016, many healthcare associations approached ISRO to learn the best practices in the quality domain and its implementation in emergency care and critical care departments to reduce mortality rates. These associations included the Association of Healthcare Providers India (AHPI), Society For Emergency Medicine India (SEMI), etc.

Now ISRO has selected 11 hospitals across the country to deliver wider benefits such as Knowledge transfer, ways to improve services, and implementation of Health-QUEST (Quality up-gradation enabled through space technology). ISRO in a statement reported that healthcare professionals have expressed their keen interest in learning about the interplay between man, machine, and the environment in the human space-flight program along with the medical equipment developed by them.

Technological spin-offs such as Artificial limbs, Artificial jawbones, left ventricular assist devices and others have already benefited mankind. Similarly, in safety, the spin-offs include flameproof coating, disaster alert system, search, and rescue beacons, and aerogen thermal wear for soldiers.
